Lea Fuldauer (Soprano) (The Hague, Holland 1887 - New York, USA 1949)



She studied in the Hague and in Amsterdam and began her career as coloratura soprano inHolland. In  the 1923-1925 seasons she was engaged by the Volksoper in Berlin, from 1926 to 1928 she was a member of the Stadttheater in Königsberg, in the 1929-1932 seasons she appeared at the Stadttheater in Münster. During the 1920’s she lived in Berlin and gave guest performances and concerts. Occasionally she sang at different Dutch operatic stages, also with the Truppe Co-Operatie in Haag. Her repertoire included Marguerite in ‘’Faust’’, Gilda in ‘’Rigoletto’’ and Oscar in ‘’Ballo in maschera’’. At the Grand Opéra in Paris she sang the role of Marzelline in Beethoven’s ‘’Fidelio’’ (1926). As a Jew, in 1939, before the occupation of Holland by the German troops, she fled to Brazil. After the Second World War she returned to her Dutch native country, but became blind.
