Lise Charny (Contralto) (1890 - 1950)



She made her debut in 1910 at the Grand Opéra in Paris as Dalila in ‘’Samson et Dalila’’ by Saint-Saëns. For many years she had a successful career in this opera house, where she appeared as Erda in ‘’Nibelungenring’’, Uta in ‘’Sigurd’’, the Queen in ‘’Hamlet’’, Magdalene in ‘’Meistersingers’’, Emilia in ‘’Otello’’, Amneris in ‘’Aida’’ and the title role in ‘’Hérodiade’’. Since 1919 she also performed at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. Here she had as Carmen, Charlotte in ‘’Werther’’, Taven in ‘’Mireille’’ and as Marceline in ‘’L'Attaque du Moulin’’ a huge success.
