Niels Hansen (Tenor) (Kjelstrup Hyllemark (Seeland) 23. 3. 1880 † ? 1969)



First he became a painter, then studied singing under Valdemar Lincke in Copenhagen and concluded this education in the 1911-1912 season with Jean de Reszke in Paris. In 1909 he made his debut at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen as Rodolfo in G. Puccini’s ‘’La Bohème’’ and belonged to this opera house up to the end of his career (1949). . In 1914 he sang in Copenhagenthe part of Parsifal in the Danish première of the R. Wagner's opera ‘’Parsifal’’. His repertoire included Manrico in ‘’Trovatore’’, Alfredo in ‘’La Traviata’’, Radames in ‘’Aida’’, Canio in ‘’Pagliacci’’, Cavaradossi in ‘’Tosca’’, Turiddu in ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’, Pinkerton in ‘’Madama Butterfly’’, Tamino in ‘’Zauberflöte’’, Max in ‘’Freischütz’’, Lohengrin, Walther von Stolzing in ‘’Meistersingern’’, Tannhäuser, Siegfried in ‘’Nibelungenring’’, Florestan in ‘’Fidelio’’, Pedro in ‘’Tiefland’’, Faust, José in ‘’Carmen’’, Hoffmann in ‘’Les contes d'Hoffmann’’, Lenski in ‘’Eugene Onegin’’, Dimitri in ‘’Boris Godunov’’ and David in ‘’Saul og David’’ by C. Nielsen.
