Pierre Nougaro (Baritone) (Toulouse, France - Marseille, France 1988)



After his education at the  Conservatoire National de Paris he made his debut in 1929 at the Grand Opéra in Paris as an army caller in R. Wagner’s ‘’Lohengrin’’. Here during the following years he had as Rigoletto, Jago in ‘’Otello’’, Amonasro in ‘’Aida’’ and as Scarpia in ‘’Tosca’’ a  huge success. In 1942 he joined to the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where he made his debut as Zurga in ‘’Les Pêcheurs de perles’’. Since that time he had in both opera theaters of the French metropolis a significant career. On 2. 10. 1951 he appeared at the Opéra National de Bordeaux in the premiere of the opera ‘’Ivan le Terrible’’ of G. Bizet. Still in 1955 he gave a guest performance at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels in ‘’Monna Vanna’’ of Henri Février. In 1958 he became a manager of the urban Opera Houses of Rennes and Besançon.
