Paolo Marion (Tenor) (Zagreb, Croatia 1895 - Buenos Aires, Argentina 1962)



His real name was Pavao Marion-Vlahović. He received his education at the Music Academy inZagreb. In 1913 he made his debut at the Theater in Novi SadSerbia and then additionally perfected his vocal technique in Vienna. Since 1918 he appeared as a guest in many leading operatic stages all over the world. In 1918 he appeared in Budapest, the next year in Berlin, in 1921 in Munich. In the 1927-28 season and in 1934 he sang with great success at the Staatsoperin Vienna. In 1932 he sang at the Opéra-Comique in Paris the role of Cavaradossi in ‘’Tosca’’. In the 1933-1934 season he was a member of the Croatian National Opera in Zagreb. In 1938 he made guest appearance at the National Opera in Belgrade. Also sang at the italian operatic stages. At La Scala he sang on 31. 1. 1931 in the premiere of the opera ‘’La Notte di Zoraima’’ of I. Montemezzi the role of Muscar. In 1939 he gave in Berlin several concerts. His repertoire included: Manrico in ‘’Il Trovatore’’, Radames in ‘’Aida’’, José in ‘’Carmen’’, Enzo in ‘’La Gioconda’’ of A. Ponchielli, Andrea Chénier, Lohengrin, Parsifal and the title role in ‘’Porin’’ of Vatroslav Lisinski.
