Carlo Bonfanti (Tenor) (Italia ? 1880 - ?)



In  the 1907-1908 season he sang at the Teatro Costanzi in Roma the part of David in ''Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg''. In  the 1908-1909 season here he appeared as Goro in ''Madama Butterfly''. In 1917 at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna he sang the part of Rustighello in ''Lucrezia Borgia'' of  G. Donizetti. At the same opera house in 1921 he appeared as Tinca in G. Puccini's ''Il Tabarro'' and also sang the part of Hrten in ''Tristan und Isolde''. In 1923 he performed in ‘’Falstaff’’, a year later and in 1926 sang the part of the Incredibile in ‘’Andrea Chénier’’. In 1922 at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli  he performed as mime in ''Siegfried''. In 1927, at the Teatro Argentina in Roma, he appeared as Pang in ‘’Turandot’’ of G. Puccini. Especially he was highly appreciated at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, where he sang from 1908 to 1914. In 1919 he appeared again at the Teatro Colón. At this opera house he sang in the première of A. Boito's ''Mefistofele'' (1908), also as Buffone in ''Paolo e Francesca'' of L. Mancinelli, the Schuiski in the South American première of ''Boris Godunov'' (13.9. 1909 with Eugenio Giraldoni in the title role), the Bello in ''Fanciulla del West'' of G. Puccini (1911), the Flaminio in ''L'Amore dei tre Re'' of I. Montemezzi (1914), also parts in the premières of G. Puccinis ''Trittico'' (1919) and ''Madame Sans-Gêne'' of U. Giordano (1919 with Claudia Muzio and Domenico Viglione-Borghese). In 1910 he made guest appearance at the Opera in Rio de Janeiro. In 1919 at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo he appeared in ‘’Falstaff’’ and in G. Puccini’s ‘’La Rondine’’. In 1920 he made guest appearance at the Opera of Cairo in ''Francesca da Rimini'' of R. Zandonai. In 1921 he sang at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna in the premiere of the opera ''La Leggenda di Sakuntala'' of Franco Alfano. In 1923 at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli he appeared in the premiere of Mario Persico's ''Morenita''. In the 1927-1928 season he was to be heard at the Teatro Regio in Parma again as mime in R. Wagner's ''Siegfried''.
