Karl Meister (Tenor) (Frankfurt a.M., Germany 1875 ? † Germany ?)



He sturdied his career as chorist at the Stadttheater in Kiel. He made his debut in 1900 at the Operettentheater in the English Garden at Vienna. In the 1900-1901 season he was engaged by the at the Carl-Theater in Vienna. In the 1901-1902 season he went on an operetta tour throughRussia. In the 1902-1908 seasons he was active at the Theater in Vienna; here he appeared in several operetta premieres: "Bruder Straubinger" of Edmund Eysler (1903), "Wiener Frauen" of Franz Lehár (1902), "Die lustige Witwe" (1905, as Camille de Rossillon) and "Der Fremdenführen" of C. M. Ziehrer (1902). In 1901 he appeared at the Carl-Theater in the premiere of an other Ziehrer's operetta "Die drei Wünsche". In the 1908-1910 seasons he was engaged by the Carl Schultze-Theater in Hamburg. In the 1911-1912 season he performed at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. As a guest he appeared in Brünn (German Theater, 1905), Prague (1907, German Theater), Dresden (Central-Theater) and Munich (Theater am Gärtnerplatz). Now and then he also appeared as an opera singer, possibly as Lyonel in Flotow's ''Martha''. He still appeared at the beginning of the 1920's in Vienna.
