Cathérine Mastio (Soprano) (? 1877 - ?)
She studied singing at the Conservatoire in Paris with Piffarelli. And made her debut in 1895 at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels as Ines in G. Meyerbeer’s ‘’Africaine’’ and in 1896 appeared in this opera house, to which she belonged till 1898, as Jeanne in the premiere of the opera ‘’La Vivandière’’ of B. Godard. Then in 1899 she joined to the Paris Opéra-Comique. Here she made her debut in the opera "Beaucoup de bruit pour rien" of Puget and during the following years, among other things she performed as Benjamin in ‘’Joseph’’ of E. Méhul, Philine in ‘’Mignon’’of A. Thomas, Micaela in ‘’Carmen’’, sang the title roles in the operas ‘’Manon’’ of J. Massenet and ‘’Louise’’ of G. Charpentier. Since 1908 she was a member of the Grand Opéra in Paris; here the part of Elsa was her beginning role in R. Wagner’s ‘’Lohengrin’’. She remained in this opera house before outbreak of the First World War. In 1911 she made guest appearance at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels. The next year she appeared in an open air performance of ‘’Orfeo ed Euridice’’ in Lausanne (as an Euridice). About her other appearances nothing can be determined. Her extensive repertoire included Philine in ‘’Mignon’’, princes in ‘’Cendrillon’’, Violetta in ‘’Traviata’’, Mimi in ‘’La Bohème’’, Elsa in ‘’Lohengrin’’ and Bertha in ‘’Le Prophète’’.
