Nino Bertelli (Tenor) (? Parma - ?)



Between the  two World Wars he had in Italy a significant career. He was one of the best interpreters of the tenor parts in Pietro Mascagni’s operas. Tcomposer himself selected him to appear at the Teatro Alla Scala in his operas ‘’Guglielmo Ratcliff’’ (1932)  and  ‘’Iris’’ (1936). He sang in this opera house also in 1932 the role of Turiddu in ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’ and in 1935 the Rinuccio in ‘’Gianni Schicchi’’ of Giacomo Puccini. In Italyhe appeared with success in different provincial stages. In 1932 he appeared at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, in 1933 at the Opera House of Rome in the premiere of ‘’La farsa amorosa’’ of Riccardo Zandonai, in 1940 at the Teatro Alla Scala in ‘’Ghirlino’’ of Luigi Ferrari-Trecate. At the Opera House of Rome he performed in 1935 in ‘’La Bohème’’. In 1938 during the festival in the Terme di Caracallahe appeared as Folco in Pietro Mascagni’s ‘’Isabeau’’, at the Opera House of Piacenza in 1936 he sang in Umberto Giordano’s ‘’Andrea Chenier’’, at the Teatro San Carlo in Naplesin ‘’'Pinotta’’ of Mascagni. After his retirement he lived as a singing teacher in Milan. He never made records.
