Friedrich Zohsel (Tenor) (Stuttgart 1879 - Berlin 1952)

He studied singing under Jacques Stückgold in Berlin, later with the famous heroic tenor Heinrich Knote. In 1908 he made his debut at the Court Theatre of Detmold. In the 1909-1910 season he sang at the Municipal Theatre of Ulm, from 1910 to 1911 at the Municipal Theatre of Basel. In the 1911-1912 season he performed at the Municipal Theatre of Katowice, from 1912 to 1913 at the Municipal Theatre of Görlitz. Then he lived guesting in Berlin, however, was drawn in 1914 as a soldier in the First World War and got in Russian captivity. Only in 1919 he could take up his career again, namely first in the 1919-1922 seasons at the Dresden State Opera, then from 1922 to 1927 at the Municipal Theatre of Chemnitz in which he appeared in 1925 in the premiere of the Wilhelm Kienzl’s opera ‘’Hassan der Schwärmer’’. In 1927-1930 seasons he was active at the Opera House of Leipzig; here he sang in 1928 in the premiere of the Hans Hermann Wetzler’s opera ‘’Die baskische Venus’’. Then he appeared at Berlin. In the 1933-1934 season he sang at the Municipal Theatre in Dortmundand from 1934 to 1935 at the Municipal Theatre in Augsburg. Then he again appeared at Berlin, where he led later an artist's agency. He appeared during his career as a guest among other things at the Berlin State Opera, Dresden and Vienna (1927).
