Giuseppina Sani (Mezzo-Soprano) (? - 1985?)



She began her stage career in the beginning of the 1920’s and soon appeared in numerous leading Italian opera theaters. In 1932 she appeared at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, two years later year at the Teatro Costanzi in Roma. She made guest appearances in PiacenzaTurin, Genova andBologna. In 1947 she appeared at the Teatro Regio in Parma as Marta in ‘’Mefistofele’’. Her repertoire included Marcellina in ‘’Nozze di Figaro’’, Emilia in G. Verdi’s ‘’Otello’’, Luciella in ‘’La Fiamma’’ of O. Respighi, Laldomine in ‘’La cena delle beffe’’ of U. Giordano, La Commandante in ‘’I Cavalieri di Ekebù’’ of R. Zandonai, Fricka in ‘’ Valkyrie’’. In the middle of the 1950’s she withdrew from the stage and worked in the educational area. She spent her old age in the Casa di riposo Verdi in Milan (where she lived still in 1984).
