His stage debut fsnd in 1901 in the opera-house of Bordeaux instead of. During the following six years he sang in Lüttich, Nice and Marseille. In 1908 he was engaged as the first baritone by the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and appeared here among other things as father in ''Louise'' of Charpentier, Hérode in Massenet's ''Hérodiade'', High Priest in ''Samson et Dalila'' of Saint-Saëns, Amonasro in ''Aida'' and Wolfram in ''Tannhäuser''. In 1910 he made guest appearance at the Covent Garden in London. In 1913 he became a member of the Grand Opéra in Paris (beginning role: Hamlet in the opera of the same name of A.Thomas). At the Grand Opéra he had a successful career. In 1914 he sang there the role of Amfortas in the French première of ''Parsifal''. In 1918 he performed in the premiere of César Franck's ''Rebecca'', in 1914 in ''Scémo'' of Alfred Bachelet. Later he worked as a singing teacher in Paris.
