His real name was Gastone Culot. He studied singing first under Dêsiré Demest in Brussels , then with Jean Martapoura in Paris . In the 1911-1914 and 1918-1920 seasons he was engaged by the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels . Here he sang roles like the Valentin in ‘’Faust’’ of Gounod, Rigoletto, Amonasro in ‘’Aida’’, Scarpia in ‘’Toscaand appeared in the premières of the operas ‘’La Fanciulla del West’’ of Puccini (1912), ‘’Parsifal’’ (1914) and ‘’Pénélope’’ of Gabriel Fauré (1913). After a guest performance in Rio de Janeiro (1920 in ‘’Manon’’ of Massenet) and appearances at the Opera House in Monte Carlo (1921 as Grand-Prêtre in ‘’Samson et of Dalila’’ of Saint-Saëns, Hérode in ‘’Hérodiade’’ of Massenet, Nevers in ‘’Huguenots’’ of Meyerbeer, Valentin in ‘’Faust’’ of Gounod and Amfortas in ‘’Parsifal’’) he was engaged in the 1922-1928 seasons as the first baritone by the Royal Opera in Antwerp. In 1944 he still sang in Pau and in Perpignan , among other things in ‘’Pagliacci’’ of Leoncavallo together with Georges Thill.
