He made his debut at the Opernhaus in Düsseldorf (1921-1922). In the 1922-1923 season he sang at the Stadttheater in Bielefeld, in the 1923-1924 season at the  Stadttheater of Mönchengladbach, from 1924 to 1925 at the Staatstheater in Oldenburg, in the 1925-1927 seasons at the Stadttheater in Münster and from 1927 to 1930 at the Stadttheater in Dortmund. He continued his career at the Opernhaus in Leipzig (1930-1933) and at the Landestheater in Schwerin (1933-1937) and in 1937 he was engaged by the  Opernhaus in Hannover. Here he worked till 1950 as a popular singer. His stage repertoire included De Grieux in ''Manon Lescaut'', Canio in ''Pagliacci'', Alvaro in ''La forza del destino'', Radames in ''Aida'', Eleazar in ''La Juive'', Samson in ''Samson et Delila'',  Hüon in ''Oberon'' Erik in "Fliegenden Holländer", Tristan in ''Tristan und Isolde'', Siegmund and Siegfried in Nibelungenring, Herodes in ''Salome'' and Otello.
