Jane Cros (Soprano)



She studied singing at the Conservatoire of Paris under Berton and Isouard. In 1917 she made her debut at the Grand Opéra in Paris as Dolores in ‘’Patrie’’ by Paladilhe. Till 1931 She had there a huge success as dramatic soprano: Aida, Marguerite in ‘’Faust’’, Salomé in ‘’Hérodiade’’, Leonora in ‘’Il Trovatore’’ as well as parts in R. Wagner's operas, especially as Brünnhilde in ‘’Walküre’’. She had similar success during the guest performances at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels (1918-1919), where she appeared among other things as Aida and Tosca. From Paris she undertook other guest performances at the famous opera houses of the French province. Till the middle of the 1930’s continued her significant career.
