Anna Case (Soprano) ( Clinton, New Jersey 1888 – New York City 1984)

Her teacher was  Mme Ohrström-Renard in New York. She made her debut in 1909 with the ensemble of the Metropolitan Opera at the New Theatre in New York as comprimaria in ‘’Werther’’ of Massenet. At the Metropolitan Opera at first she took over small parts, until she sang in 1913 in the American première of ‘’Boris Godunov’’; the same year she also appeared in the American première of ‘’Rosenkavalier’’ as Sophie. Till 1915 she remained a member of the Metropolitan Opera; she sang in  the 1916-17 season and from 1919-20 once more there, but only in the Sunday Night Concerts. Since 1920 she was excluding concert soprano. She appeared not only in North America, but also in Europe. In 1929 she married to multimillionnaire and Clarence Mackay and withdrew from the music life.
