Jules Moes (Tenor) (Maastricht 1880 - Amsterdam 1962)

He began his career in Amsterdamappearing in operetta (1902) and then sang at the opera houses of Ghent and Antwerp. In this opera houses he appeared in R. Wagner’s operas. In 1910 he was engaged by the German Theatre of  Prague, where he appeared till 1914 and where under the pseudonym of Julius Peter had big success. From Praguehe undertook guest performances in leading German theatres. With the outbreak of the First World War he came back to Hollandand now appeared again under the name Jules Moes. He sang there at different opera houses, however the expected successful international career did not come; for the last time he appeared in 1940 in Amsterdam as Manrico in ‘’Trovatore’’. In 1926 Moes made guest performance with opera society  Kooperatie Den Haag at the Grand Opéra in Paris. He made records for Pathé, Gramophone, Polydor, Polyphon and Homochord, everything into Dutch language and under the name Jules Moes.
