Adelaide Saraceni (Soprano) (Rosario, Argentina 1895 – Milan, Italy 1995)

She studied with Edwige Ghibaudo at the Liceo Musicale of Pesaro and made her debut in 1919 at the Teatro Mariani in Ravenna as Rosina in ‘’Il Barbere di  Siviglia’’. Then she had a significant career in the big Italian opera houses, in particular at La Scala, at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and in other opera theaters. In 1925 she guested in Holland, in 1928 at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. She helped in the premiere of the opera ‘’La vedova scaltra’’ of Wolf-Ferrari on 15. 3. 1931 at the Teatro Dell'Opera in Rome, in 1934 at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in ‘’Mariestella’’ of Giuseppe Pietri. From 1928 to 1932 she performed at La Scala in Milan. There in 1929 she appeared as Susanna in ‘’Nozze di Figaro’’ under Richard Strauss, in 1930 as Rautendelein in the Italian première of O. Respighis ‘’La Campana sommersa’’ under the management of the composer. In 1933 she appeared in the festival of Verona as Marguerite de Valois in ‘’Gli Ugonotti’’ of Meyerbeer. She sang till 1935 in the big Italian opera theaters, among other things also in Bergamo and Brescia, and travelled around Germany and Switzerland with Italian opera troupes. After finishing her active stage career she worked as a pedagogue in Milan.
