Her real surname was Plugovskaya. She was a wife of the great russian tenor David Yuzhin. She studied with M. Zotova in Kiev (1897—1901), then she studied in St. Petersburg and later in Paris with M. Vidal and in Italy. In 1900 she made her debut in St. Petersburg Private opera. From 1901—06, 1910—13 and from 1915 up to the 1920s she was a soloist of the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre. From 1906—08 and in 1913, 1916, 1919 she appeared in Moscow Bolshoi Theatre, from 1908—10 Ermolenko-Yuzhina sang in S. Zimin’s Opera Theatre. She guested in Odessa (1904), Tbilisi, Baku, Kazan (1905), Rostov-on-Don (1906), La Scala (1906 nd 1907; with David Yuzhin), Paris (Grand Opera House, 1907 и 1912), where she appeared in Wagner repertoire. In 1908 she appeared in the first Sergei Dyagiev’s famous ‘’Russian seasons’’ as Maria Mnishek in ‘’Boris Godunov’’. Ermolenko-Yuzhina also appeared in South America (1907), Brussels (1910). Since 1917 she sang at the Covent Garden, London. From 1921-22 she appeared in Italy, Germany and Spain (Barcelona). Next year she sang in France, America and Russia. Since 1924 Ermolenko-Yuzhina lived in Paris, where she appeared in Grand Opera House.
