Paul Lantéri (Baritone) (Antibes, France 1880, 1/12 - Salon de Provence, France 1961, 13/4)



He studied singing at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Toulouse and made his debut in a concert at the Casino  de Cannes.  Then he appeared at opera theaters of the South in France. In 1922 he joined to the Opéra-Comique and made his debut in ‘’Carmen’’. In 1923 he became a member of the Grand Opéra in Paris. Here he made his debut as Rigoletto and sang during the following five years the following parts: count di Luna in ‘’Il Trovatore’’, Germont in ‘’La Traviata’’, Amonasro in ‘’Aida’’, Telramund in ‘’Lohengrin’’, Hérode in ‘’Hérodiade’’, Athanaël in ‘’Thaïs’’, Tonio in ‘’Pagliacci’’ and the Grand-Prêtre in ’’ Samson et Dalila’’. In 1922 he mde guest appearances at  the Opéra Monte-Carlo and sang there Albert in ‘’Werther’’, Telramund and Valentin in ‘’Faust’’. In 1923 he sang once more at this opera house, now as Telramund and Kurwenal in ‘’Tristan und Isolde’’. He performed at the Opéra Monte-Carlo also in two opera premieres: ‘’Les Noces Tragiques’’ of Catargi and ‘’Schyrine’’ of Graefe.
