He was a racing car driver and mechanic at the Citroën car company. His voice was discovered while he was serving in the military. He studied singing under Léon David and Léon Escalaïs in Paris and made his debut in 1931 at the Opera of Rouen as Cavaradossi in ''Tosca''. After the second World War he had roles in several sound movies and following his singing career he served as the Director of the Opera in Nice. He retired from the stage in 1962. Luccioni's son Jacques (January 25, 1930 Paris) was first an actor, but studied singing at the Conservatoire de Paris and made his debut in 1956 at the Opéra-Comique Paris as José in ''Carmen''.
