He began his education at the the conservatoire
of Saratov, where he was a pupil of Mikhail Medvedev. Before he could begin his
career, during the First World War, he was drawn to the service in the Russian
army. He got in Austrian captivity and came in 1915 to castle Press
(Bratislava). After end of the war, here he gave a guest performances and was engaged
in 1921 by the Opera House. From there he joined in 1928 to the National Theater
in Prague, where he belonged up to the beginning of the 1950’s. Here he also sang
on 8. 10. 1928 in the premiere of the opera ‘’Die Brüder Karamasov’’ of Otokar
Jeremiás. His repertoire included Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’, Pinkerton in ‘’Madama
Butterfly’’, Lenski in ‘’Eugene Onegin’’, Andrei in ‘’Mazeppa’’, Dimitri in ‘’Boris
Godunov’’ and many other parts.
