Aurora Buades (Mezzo-Soprano) (Valencia 1897 - July, Firenze 1965)




She studied in Milan and made her debut in 1918 in Reggio Emilia. In 1921 she had a huge success at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, among other things in performances of the opera ‘’L'Uomo che ride’’ by Arrigo Pedrollo. Then she made guest appearances in Buenos Aires (Teatro Colón, 1926) and Havana (Gran Teatro, 1927). She often performed in Buenos Aires, sang also in Rio de Janeiro (among other things in 1926 at the Teatro Lirico as Gertrude in ‘’Hamlet’’ of A. Thomas), Montevideo, São Paolo and Spain (Madrid and Barcelona). In  the 1926-1938 seasons she was to be found over and over again as a guest at the Teatro Felice in Genoa, among other things as Eboli in ‘’Don Carlo’’ and Principessa in ‘’Adriana Lecouvreur’’. In 1930 she sang at the Teatro Comunale in Florence. The next year she performed at the Rome Opera as Amneris in ‘’Aida’’. In  the 1932-1933 season she was at La Scala,  where she appeared as Amneris in ‘’Aida’’ and Margherita in ‘’Guglielmo Ratcliff’’. In 1934 she made guest appearance at the Arena di Verona as Laura in ‘’La Gioconda’’. At the Rome Opera she sang on 23. 1. 1934 in the premiere of the opera ’’La Fiamma’’ by Ottorino Respighi. In 1936 she guested at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo as Amneris in ‘’Aida’’ and Adalgisa in ‘’Norma’’. She was married the Italian tenor Roberto d'Alessio (1893-1975).
