Delia Sanzio (Soprano) (Milano 1905 - ? 1985)



She studied singing in Milan and made her debut in 1927. During the following twenty years she appeared in many famous operatic stages. Her repertoire included Santuzza in ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’, Stephana in ‘’Siberia’’ of  U. Giordano, Maddalena in ‘’Andrea Chénier’’, Tosca, Elsa in ‘’Lohengrin’’, Leonora in ‘’Trovatore’’ of G. Verdi, Desdemona in ‘’Otello’’, Ginevra in ‘’La cena delle beffe’’of U. Giordano, Jaroslavna in ‘’Prince Igor’’ of A. Borodin. In 1931 she had a special success when she appeared as Marina in ‘’Boris Godunov’’ of M. Mussorgsky at the Teatro Massimo inPalermo as a partner of Domenico Viglione-Borghese. In 1936 she sang at the Teatro Donizetti inBergamo in the premiere of Luigi Rocca’s ‘’In Terra di Leggenda’’. She retired from the stage in 1952.
