Regina Pinkert (Soprano) (Warsaw, Poland 1869 – Milan 1931)




She made her debut after her study in Poland in 1886 at the Opera Theatre of Warsaw as Marguerite de Valois in ‘’Gli Ugonotti’’ of Meyerbeer. In 1889 she went to Italy and studied with italian pedagogues. Since 1892 Pinkert made in Italy successful stage career. In 1892 she sang in Milan, in 1893, 1896 and 1906 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, from 1899 to 1903 at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, in 1895 at the Teatro Regio in Turin. In 1897 she had big success at  La Scala as Elvira in ''I Puritani'' of Bellini with Alessandro Bonci as a partner and sang there on 10. 4. 1897 in the premiere of Franchetti's ''Il signor di Pourceaugnac''. In 1901 she had a big success at La Scala as Adina in ''Elisir d'amore'' with Enrico Caruso. In South America she appeared in 1897 at the Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires. She guested in 1895, 1898 and from 1901 to 1902 at the Opera Theatre of Monte Carlo, in 1894 she sang at the Teatro Real in Madrid, in 1902 at the Opera Theatre of Warsaw, in 1904 at the German Theatre of Prague, in 1904 at the Court Opera of Dresden, in the 1906-07 season she performed at the Opera House of  Lviv. She also appeared in Paris and at the Teatro San Carlo of Lisbon as a guest. In 1901 Pinkert sang in a charity concert in Paris by the request of the widow of composer Ambroise Thomas the insanity scene of the Ophelia from  ''Amleto''. In 1906 she appeared  at the Manhattan Opera House of New York in the opening night of the theatre as Elvira in ''I Puritani''. Later she lived as a pedagogue in Milan. 

REGINE PINKERT,
a noted coloratura soprano, came from Kiev, Russia, where she was singing at the Municipal Opera, to become a member of New York's Manhattan Opera Company. She was born at Varsoria, of Polish parentage, and began the study of music at the age of five. When she was fifteen years old she was a pianist of high order and began playing in concerts. She studied in Paris under Madame Marchesi for two years and then, at the age of seventeen, made her debut at Milan, afterwards appearing at the prominent theaters and opera houses throughout Europe and South America. Her repertoire consists of such operas as Lucia, Somnambula, Puritani, L'Elisir, La Boheme, Barbiere, Rigoletto, Hamlet, etc.
