He studied singing in Roma and made his debut in 1930 at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. During the 1940’s here his repertoire included Cassio in G. Verdi’s ‘’Otello’’, David in ‘’ Meistersingern’’, Froh in ‘’ Rheingold’’, Alfredo in ’’La Traviata’’ and Maurizio in ‘’Adriana Lecouvreur’’. He appeared in the Roman première of Richard Strauss’s ‘’Arabella’’ as Elemer (1938). In 1939 he sang at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli (where he also appeared in 1938 and 1940) in the premiere of the opera ‘’Il Malato imaginario’’ by Jacopo Napoli. After the Second World War among other things he appeared during the festival of the Thermes de Caracalla in Roma as Cavaradossi in ‘’Tosca’’ (1945). He made guest appearances at the London Cambridge Theatre as Cavaradossi and Rodolfo in ‘’La Bohème’’. During an Australian tour he sang the part of Turiddu in ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’ and Kalaf in ‘’Turandot’’. Beside his appearances at the famous Italian operatic stages it came to guest performances in Switzerland, in Germany, South Africa and Spain. He was married the soprano Maria Huder (1907-1972), a known opera singer.
