Henri Dangès (Baritone) (?1870 – Paris 1948)

During the 1898-1902 seasons he appeared at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. Here in 1900 he sang a small role in the premiere of Charpentier’s ‘’Louise’’. In the 1902-03 season he was engaged by the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and then sang at the French provincial theatres. In 1908 made his debut at the Grand Opéra in Paris appearing as Valentine in Gounod’s ‘’Faust’’ and till 1912 perfomed here with great success. In 1911 he sang at the Grand Opéra in the première of Giordano’s ‘’Siberia’’ and appeared in the same year there in the opera ‘’Déjanire’’ of Saint-Saëns. He sang also at the Opera House of Monte Carlo (1911 as Scarpia in ‘’Tosca’’) and at Cairo. In 1905 he appeared at the Opera House of Lyon in the premiere of the opera ‘’Les Girondins’’ of Fernand Le Borne. In the 1911-12 season he was a member of the Boston Opera. Still in 1928 he made guest appearance in Amsterdamas Morales in ‘’Carmen’’.
