Giacomo Dammacco (Dammaco) (Tenor) (Bari 1883 - Milano 1966)
He made his debut at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari as comprimario.His real career began in 1904, when he made his debut at the opera house of Acqui Terme as Duca in ‘’Rigoletto’’. During the following years Dammacco appeared in Italian provincial stages. Already in 1915 he was engaged by the Metropolitan Opera of New York, where he was heard as Alfredo in Verdi’s ‘’La Traviata’’ and Count Almaviva in ‘’Il Barbiere di Siviglia’’ of Rossini. Returning Italy Dammacco had important success also there. He appeared among other things also in Spain, Mexico and in Peru. He was married to the famous mezzo-soprano Laura del Lungo. Dammacco spent his old age in the Casa di riposo Verdi in Milan.
