Baltasar Banquells (Bass) (Valencia, Spain 1872 ? - ?)



Probably he made his debut in 1895. He appeared in Mahon, Madrid (Teatro Buen Retiro), Barcelona (Teatro Novedades and Teatro Tivoli), Lisbon, Alicante, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Brussels, Palma de Mallorca. His repertoire included Alvise in ''La Gioconda'', Alfonso in ''Lucrezia Borgia'', Ferrando in ''Il Trovatore'', Sparafucile in ''Rigoletto'', Rodolfo in ''La Sonnambula'', Ramfis in ''Aida'' and Silva in Ernani. In the 1902-1903 season he appeared at the Teatro Principal in Valencia as Marcello in ''Gli Ugonotti'' opposite Emanuele Ischierdo as Raoul. Till the 1920's he continued his career on the stage, but performed only in zarzuelas. In 1930's he appeared also in some spanish movies.
