Sydney Rayner (Tenor) (New Orleans 1895 - New York 1981)





                                                                Faust

He studied in Paris and Milan. In  1921 he made his debut at the Teatro Adriano in Rome as Rodolfo in ‘’Boheme’’. Until 1929 he engaged in various Italian opera houses. In 1929 he appeared at the Staatsoper of Berlin. In 1930 Rayner made his Paris debut as Julien in "Louise" at the Opera-Comique, of which he was a member for 5 years; in the spring season of 1936 he sang at the Metropolitan Opera House (debut as Don Jose); guest appearances followed with the San Francisco and Los Angeles Operas; concert engagements in the US and Europe.
