Enrico Roggio (Baritone) (Catania 1883 - Milano 1973)




He was born in Catany, Italy. Studied with soprano Elena Theodorini in Rome and with Nino Cairone in Milan. He made his debut in 1905 at the Teatro Alighieri, Ravenna as Schaunard in ‘’La Bohème’’ and then sang in the bigger Italian provincial stages. In 1911 he appeared with success at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. In 1915 he guested at the  Teatro Coliseo of Buenos Aires. The next year Roggio had  big success at the Teatro Nacional in Havana. He performed at the Teatro Lirico, Milan in the premiere of the opera ‘’Suona la ritirata’’ of Monleone (1916). He was also famous as talented actor. He withdrew from the opera stage in 1948. Since then he worked as a vocal pedagogue in Milan.
