Suzanne Balguérie (Soprano) (Le Havre 29 juin 1888, † Saint-Martin-d'Hères 17 février 1973)

After her education at the Conservatoire National de Paris first she was active as a concert singer. She made her debut in 1921 at the Opéra-Comique in Paris as an Ariane in ‘’Ariane et Barbe-Bleue’’ by Dukas. Many years  she was a member of this opera house, later she worked also at the Grand Opéra in Paris. She appeared at the Opéra-Comique in the premiere of the following operas:

1922  Paris Opéra-Comique ‘’Quand la cloche sonnera’’ (Alfred Bachelet)

1923 Paris Opéra-Comique ‘’La brebis égarée’’ (Milhaud)

1924 Paris Opéra-Comique ‘’L'Appel de la mer’’ (Henri Rabaud)

1924 Paris Opéra-Comique ‘’Les Burgraves’’ (Léo Sachs)

In 1925 at the Opéra-Comique she sang with great success the part of Isolde in ‘’Tristan und Isolde’’. In 1934 she performed at the Grand Opéra in the premiere of ‘’La Princesse lointaine’’ by Witkowski. At both opera houses her stage repertoire included Donna Anna in ‘’Don Giovanni’’, Countess in ‘’Nozze di Figaro’’, Brünnhilde in ‘’Walküre’’, Antonia in ‘’Les contes d'Hoffmann’’, Marguerite in’’Faust’’, Tosca and the title role in ‘’Pénélope’’ of G. Fauré. She retired from the stage in 1950 and taught singing at the Conservatoire de Grenoble.
