He studied singing at the conservatoires of
Brussels and Paris and made his debut in
1913 at the Opéra de Nice. In the 1914-1918 seasons he was active at the Théâtre
des Galéries in
Brussels. In 1918 he joined to Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, where he had about
forty years a huge success. He made guest appearances at the Opéra-Comique in Paris
and at the Opéras de Monte-Carlo and Nice . In 1932 he sang at the Théâtre de
la Monnaie in the Belgian première of Alban Berg’s ‘’Wozzeck’’'. Last he taught singing in Brussels. He made a few recordings for Polydor/Decca.
