Fred Bordon (Bass) (Constantine, Algeria 1896 - ? 1966)

He made his debut in 1922 at the Paris Grand Opéra as Radbert in ‘’La fille de Roland’’ by Henri Rabaud. The following 15 years he remained at the Grand Opéra as the first bass. He made guest appearances at thje other French operatic stages and several times in Amsterdam. Here he sang the part of Ramiro in the Dutch première of Ravel’s ‘’L'Heure espagnole’’ (1933), also the Golo in ‘’Pelléas et Mélisande’’ under Pierre Monteux (1935) and the Escamillo in ‘’Carmen’’ (1936). His repertoire included Papageno in the ‘’Magic Flute’’, Athanaël in ‘’Thaïs’’,  Landgraf in ‘’Tannhäuser’’, king Heinrich in ‘’Lohengrin’’, Ochs in ‘’Rosenkavalier’’, Mephisto in ‘’Faust’’, Ramphis in ‘’Aida’’, Malek in ‘’Antar’’ of Gabriel Dupont and Pimen in ‘’Boris Godunov’’. In 1924 he appeared at the Grand Opéra in the premiere of the opera ‘’L'Arlequin’’ of Max d'Olonne.
