Vera De Luce (Vera De Lutze) (Soprano) (Lublin 1879 – Moscow 1977)


                                                   Rosina in ''Barbiere di Siviglia''


She was born in Lublin, Warsaw. She studied with her mother, an opera singer Sofia Konarskaya. In 1902 she made her opera debut in Warsaw with success. In the following years she made guest appearances not only in Warsaw, but also in Italyunder the name Vera de Luza. In 1907 she was engaged by the same year by the S. Zimin’s private opera house of Moscow, where she made her debut in Rossini's ''Barbiere di Siviglia''.In this opera house she appeared till 1913 and then gave guest performances in different opera houses in Russia, above all in Odessa and Charkov. Leading roles in her extensive stage repertoire were the Rosina in ‘’Barbiere di Siviglia’’, Juliette in ‘’Roméo et Juliette’’ of Gounod, Mimi in ‘’ Bohème’’ and Antonida in ‘’A Life for the Tsar’’ of Glinka. She retired from the stage in 1918. Since 1934 she worked at the Gnessin StateMusical Collegein Moscow.
