Consuelo Escobar De Castro (Soprano) (San Luis Potosi, Mexico 1895 - ?)


She studied singing in Mexico City and made her debut in there in 1916 as Gilda in ‘’Rigoletto’’. Since 1920 she had great success at the Summer Opera of Ravinia near Chicago, where she appeared in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’, ‘’Elisir d'amore’’, ‘’Don Pasquale’’, ‘’Barbiere di Siviglia’’ ' and ‘’Mignon’’. In the 1923-24 season she traveled to North America was a member of the the San Carlo Opera Company. Several times she was engaged by the Opera House of Mexico City, where she was highly acclaimed. In Italy she guested at the Teatro Lirico in Milan. Later she founded in Mexico Citya singing studio. She was married the Mexican tenor Carlos de Castro Padilla (1889 Mexico City - Mexico City 1938).
