Since an early age Alchevsky differed the big musical endowments. Played the violin, appeared as a singer in charitable concerts. In 1901 Alchevsky made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre as an Indian guest in ''Sadko''. His teachers were Felia Litvinne, Jan De Reszke, O. Palechek and his brother Grigori Alchevsky (teacher and singer). From 1907 to 1908 Alchevsky appeared as leading tenor in S. Zimin’s Opera Theatre, from 1908 to 1910 he sang at the Paris Grand Opera. Since 1910 Alchevsky sang both at the Mariinksy and the Moscow Bolshoi Theatres. He also appeared in Odessa, Ekaterinoslav, Khatkov, Baku and also at the famous opera theatres of the Western Europe and America. he established his reputation as one of the greatest tenors of his time in Russia and in Europe. In perfection used own voice. His performance was characterized by freedom of dynamic shades, talent of Alchevsky differed outstanding variety. One of the best musical-scenic images created by Alchevsky was Herman in ''Pique dame'' of Tchaikovsky – part performed by Alchevsky with big expression. The critics considered him as protruding performer of this part. His other roles were Radames, Don Juan, Werther, Romeo, Raoul, Sadko, Sobinin, Don Jose. Alchevsky always propagandized in Russia and abroad russian and ukrainian songs. Unfortunately, during of tours in Baku, Alchevsky was ill with heavy mental frustration and died there. He recorded only once in 1903 (8 records).
