He studied singing at the Conservatoire National in Paris with Taskin and Bussine and made his debut in 1892 at the Opéra-Comique in Paris as Monostatos in "Zauberflöte". He spent all his life by appearing in this opera house. He sang not only on the opera stage, but also in Paris operetta theaters (The Bouffes-Parisiens, where he also performed on 10. 12. 1898 in the premiere of Messager’s "Véronique"). In 1923 he appeared at the Théâtre des Nouveautés in Paris in the premiere of the operetta ‘’Ciboulette’’ by Reynaldo Hahn. He also appeared as an actor in a lot of films. In 1908 he sang at the Manhattan Opera House in New York the part of Pelléas. He retired from the stage in 1938 and then was active as pedagogue in Paris ..
