She studied singing under Elizabeth Wells in San Francisco and Pietro Cimini in Los Angeles. In 1945 she made her debut at a concert in Hollywood Bowl. The same year she made her opera debut at Redlands Bowl (California) as Leonora in ''Trovatore''. In 1946 she was engaged by the Metropolitan Opera in New York (debut: Micaela in ''Carmen''). She remained a member of this opera house till 1949. Here her repertoire included Pamina in "Zauberflöte", Desdemona in ''Otello'', Violetta in ''Traviata'' and Nedda in ''Pagliacci''. Since 1947 she appeared as a guest in San Francisco and Philadelphia. In 1947 she sang at Central City (Colorado) the part of Violetta in ''Traviata''. She appeared as Gräfin in "Figaros Hochzeit" and Donna Elvira in "Don Giovanni" in San Francisco, in Philadelphia as Thaïs. In 1953 she sang at Arena Flegrea in Napoli the part of Margherita in ''Mefistofele''.
